The Ratchet LN upgrade kit allows for the conversion of DT Swiss pawl hubs to the Ratchet System.
Simultaneous engagement of the ratchets over a wide contact area distributes loads evenly for outstanding reliability. The modularity of the hub allows easy adjustment of the engagement angle as well as its freehub body. Ratchet LN allows DT Swiss hubs with pawl systems to be upgraded to Ratchet Systems.
The reliability of the Ratchet System comes from the fact that each tooth engages simultaneously. In comparison, the pawl system has much smaller engagement surfaces. With the Ratchet System, each side engages and therefore distributes the force evenly. This is where the legendary reliability of Ratchet System hubs comes from.
The no-tool concept makes it easy to convert the freehub body to any drivetrain standard. All hubs equipped with the Ratchet System can be converted.
The Ratchet LN System is designed for 370 hubs equipped with the pawl system. These hubs have been developed with a freehub system seal placed on the freehub body, while the latest DT Swiss hubs have their freehub system seal placed on the hub shell. This is why the Ratchet System or the Ratchet EXP freehub bodies are not compatible with the pawl hubs.
In order to make the conversion from pawl freehub system to the Ratchet LN system possible, the freehub system seal is placed on the freehub body and not on the hub shell like on the other Ratchet Systems.
With just a few simple steps, it is possible to incorporate the benefits of Ratchet Systems, such as the outstanding reliability and adaptability of the engagement angle, in existing DT Swiss pawl system hubs.
