In 2018 we moved our Newcastle store to a larger premises on Saint Mark’s Street (just off Shields Road). Storage was a key factor for the move, since our online sales increased year on year, more storage was required.
This also meant more bikes could be displayed (we usually have around 250 bike built and on display) and a larger workshop for repairs, services, wheel building.
Suspension and dropper seatpost servicing is also carried out in store.
We offer several cycle to work schemes, including Cyclescheme, Green Commute Initiative, Cycle to Work scheme, Bike2work scheme, Bike to Work (Ireland), Bikes for NHS, Cycleplus, Salary Exchange & Halfords Cycle to Work Scheme (Letters of Collection).

Very happy with the service I received here. I went in for a bike fit, having had ongoing issues with upper back pain on longer rides. Chris, the bike fitter, took his time to understand the problem, what type of cyclist I was and what he might be able to do to help. He then methodically worked through all the key mechanics of cycling with me, adjusting my cleats, saddle height, handlebar angle etc. Since I’ve had this done, my riding feels smoother, faster and pain-free. I needed a new saddle anyway and there was no upselling- I got the one that was right for me, not the one that was the most expensive. Would very much recommend a bike fit at CJs to anyone serious about cycling. Thanks!
Had a really nagging squeak in my seatpost; I called on the phone and Artur was really helpful and knowledgeable, giving me useful advice to help me solve it. I couldn't fix it so dropped into the workshop and whilst they couldn't fit me in, Artur really kindly spent 10 or 15 mins looking more closely at the issue and identifying a slightly different culprit; which he then described the fix for in some detail. I was able to sort it out myself that evening and my bike is delightfully squeak free just in time for a 100 mile ride this weekend. I'm really relieved and grateful - they were so helpful and no charge.I use these guys for most of my bike maintenance and I really trust and recommend them for their knowledge, expertise and value for money.
My SRAM rear derailleur on my Canyon bike broke down, even more annoying, it was during our holiday in the Dales. Phoned up shops in the area, which was frustrating until I reached CJ. SRAM? Of course, we’ll have a replacement the next day and you’ll be off again. Said and done. I had a lovely chat with Artur who was really competent in explaining me the difference between all the manufacturers. Besides I got some great tips for rides in the area. Thank you so much folks, you saved our holiday.

Best place to get your bike sorted. Had my Specialized Levo bike with Nick for a look into front fork judder, that was adressed along with general service of the bike, finally got rid of some annoying rattles too - in addition got a new dropper fitted that the store was able to supply along with a new lever. All at a very reasonable price and done quickly - I would recommend this store and the workshop in a heartbeat.
Booked a bike fit with Chris after spending 18 months struggling to ride with knee and lower back pain. We had an initial telephone chat about cycling history, lifestyle changes, previous injuries / broken bones. Turned up on the day and was made to feel welcome by the Cramlington team straight away. Set up my existing bike on the rig and off we went. We took it one step at a time with Chris taking measurements, making minute changes to cleat position, seat height, seat position, stem angle, stem length, brake levers. It felt like a totally different bike by the end of the 2.5 hours.So I’ve waited three weeks before writing this review. Been out 3 times per week since the fit, pushing on to 40 miles a ride. So far, no knee or back pain and just less overall fatigue while riding. In my opinion the best £ I’ve ever spent. Even though I’m based 35 miles away I was so impressed with the service and knowledge of CJ Performance Cycles it’s where I’m buying my next bike.
Broke a spoke in my rear wheel, was ok for a bit then wheel started to buckle. Dropped it off for repair and to stick a newer tyre on. Sorted with no issue, all trued and good as new. Great service.
Superb! Called in today with an issue with di2 on a bike that wasn’t even purchased from them. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Bike went into the workshop whilst Chris took the time to explain some of the do's and donts of di2 (this is my first di2 bike) 10-15 mins later all sorted. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or use again in the future. Thank you.
